it looks like you already found a workaround

xan.lol

might go back to using the old method alongside the current favicon fetching service, as it fails on some.

yeah, It looks like selfhosted.social has stopped working

xan.lol

this seems to be fixed when getting favicons directly from the client :p (still included a fallback to that other fetching service)
